KOZHIKODE: As many as 265 persons, a majority of them women, took part as representatives of 32 self-help groups attached to the Kizhissery branch of the South Malabar Gramin Bank (SMGB) at a convention held recently, a spokesman for the bank said here on Friday. Inaugurating the function, Block Development Officer-Arecode block, PD Philip, appreciated the SMGB-branch's success in meeting targets in the field of government-sponsored schemes. The Kizhisserry branch has registered 40 per cent increase in agricultural lending as per Central Government norms. SMGB Area Manager, S. Rajiv, Branch Manager, V. Rajagopalan, and officer from the bank's women development cell, Pushpaja, also spoke.
