Members' furore over packaged water

HYDERABAD, MARCH 4. Members made no secret of their anger during question hour in the Assembly today against certain companies manufacturing packaged water.

T. Jeevan Reddy (Congress) complained that 50 per cent of these companies were "bogus."

G. Muddukrishnama Naidu (Congress) said some companies were selling adulterated water drawn from dirty tanks.

The Finance Minister, K. Rosaiah, said 88 companies were found manufacturing sub-standard packaged water and prosecution was launched against 38 of them.
