Chennai , March 10

THE US-based QXSystems, provider of technology software solutions, has set up an engineering centre in Chennai with an investment of Rs 10 crore.

The company has about 30 employees in India and plans to ramp it up to around 500 in the next 15 months. The employee addition could be anywhere in India where talent is available, according to the company's founder and Chairman, Mr Johan M. Karlstedt.

Being a privately held company, Mr Karlstedt declined to give company's financial details, including revenue.

According to Mr Karlstedt, the investment in India would be aligned to the company's growth in the US, Europe and West Asia.

The engineering centre in Chennai would serve as the company's global technology and development resource. The centre is expected to play an increasingly dominant role in helping the company's growth, he told newspersons.

The company also launched WorkACE, an intranet/extranet application that integrates business process implementation and enterprise knowledge management online, he said.

In other words, if a company has a standalone application for customer relationship management and supply chain management, WorkACE integrates these two, he said.

Mr Anil Bakshi, CEO (Asia Pacific), QXSystems, said to reinforce the company's development needs, it would expand the number of sub-contractors, from the present two.

On the cost of the new product, Mr Bakshi said the licence fee would be Rs 75,000 per user. The actual cost of the software would depend on the size and requirement of a client, he said.
