Top athletes for Kolkata marathon

KOLKATA, MARCH 10. Two of the country's top runners, D. Balaram of CRPF and Madhuri Gurnule of LIC, have confirmed their participation in the third Kolkata marathon to be held on Sunday.

Athletes from Orissa, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Delhi and Services will participate in the main marathon and the women's marathon. The event carries a prize fund of Rs. 6.75 lakhs. The men's champion will get Rs. 2 lakhs, while the winner in the distaff side will take home Rs. 15,000.

The Airtel & The Telegraph sponsored event has also attracted some of the city's elites. — Our Special Correspondent
