Mr. Singh announced that ICFAI University, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, S.S. Consultants, Vimta Labs and an unnamed public sector undertaking involved in mapping technologies were the major evaders of service tax.

He said ICFAI University needed to pay Rs. 16 crores, HAL, Rs. 5.75 crores, S.S. Consultants, involved in the construction of the cricket stadium at Uppal here, Rs. 73 lakhs, and Vimta Labs, Rs. 25.92 lakhs. In all, 42 service tax providers with facilities in the Hyderabad Zone of the Commissionerate of Customs and Central Excise were due of about Rs. 28 crores.
