Mason murders wife?

A mason allegedly killed his wife suspecting her fidelity at Yousufian Colony in Chandrayanagutta in the small hours of Thursday. A. Jangaiah was accused of picking up a quarrel with his wife, A. Chandramma, 22, in an inebriated condition last night and fit of rage allegedly hit her on the head with a crowbar. Neighbours rushed her to Osmania General Hospital where she died. Jangaiah is absconding.

Youth found murdered

An unidentified man aged around 20 was found murdered at a vent abutting Hussain Sagar Lake near Viceroy Hotel on Thursday. The Gandhinagar police suspect the victim was killed last night. His face was disfigured as the offenders had smashed his head with a boulder.

Woman dies in mishap

An unidentified 60-year-old woman was killed when an unidentified scooterist knocked her down and sped off near KCP Guest House in Panjagutta on Wednesday. The victim died on the spot, the local police said.

Case against contractor

The Sultan Bazar police booked a case against a Water Board contractor following a complaint by the Electricity Department that he had damaged underground cables worth Rs. 1 lakh running from Imlibun to Hyderguda while digging up the road at Ram Kothi.

Jewellery stolen

Fake jewellery polishers relieved two women of their jewellery, in separate incidents on Wednesday. Santha Bai, 70, of Old Bhoiguda was relieved of four tolas of gold after the duo promised to polish the jewellery. Another housewife, Asma Mohmin, 37, of New Malakpet, was duped of two tolas in a similar fashion.

Held on theft charge

An alleged property offender, who targets locked residential quarters, was arrested by the Chilakalaguda police on Thursday. Stolen gold ornaments weighing 15 tolas and Rs. 20,000 were recovered from the arrested Mohd. Rafeeq, 28, the North Zone DCP, Kumar Vishwajeet, said.
