Back Compass 2005 may generate Rs 50 cr worth business Our Bureau

COMPASS 2005, a five-day IT event, is expected to generate business in the range of Rs 50-60 crore. Last year, business enquiries worth Rs 200 crore were generated in Compass 2004. Fifteen per cent of the enquiries translated into actual business. Stating this during the inauguration of Compass 2005 here on Friday, Mr Narendra Dhanuka, President of Computer Association of Eastern India (Compass), said Compass 2005 was being held this year with the support of the Department of Information Technology, Government of West Bengal. More than 100 participants have taken up space in 370 stalls. Mr Dhanuka said the participants at Compass 2005 include hardware & software vendors, network solution providers, dotcom companies, IT infrastructure providers, computer training institutes, suppliers of peripherals, etc. Major companies participating in the IT event include LG Electronics, Sony, Samsung, Wipro, Via Technologies, Philips, Microsoft and Intel. Besides, Compass 2005 will witness the launch of products such as Isyn PCs and Tally 7.2 VAT-enabled software.
