SOFTWARE services company Zensar Technologies has partnered with the Japan-based Nomura Research Institute to launch a software migration solution — SITAR (Solution Initiative for Transformation and Re-engineering).

The solution is meant to transfer existing legacy systems to the open source platform. SITAR has been developed using Microsoft.NET and the system analysis techniques of Zensar, the company has said. Legacy migration is a solution that transfers work applications running on legacy (older /existing) systems such as mainframes and open source platforms within a short period and at a low cost.

The solution is drawing the interest of users of legacy systems in manufacturing and finance sectors. While the value of business targeted is over $30 million per year for the alliance, the partnership is expected to be worth over $5 million annually to Zensar.

"SITAR is a contemporary migration technique, where the business logic of the current system is extracted and once the program is re-constructed, it is migrated to a new platform," the Deputy Chairman and MD, Zensar, Mr Ganesh Natarajan, said. Zensar's Solution BluePrint Framework addresses strategic migration challenges with cost-effective solutions in a shorter timeframe, facilitating improved productivity.
