Back `Vast opportunities in service sector'

``RESEARCH work in India should focus more on the prevailing problems in the primary education and healthcare sector,'' said Mr Anand Sharma, Member of Parliament, while inaugurating a two-day international conference on `Services management'.

He also highlighted the opportunities present in the service sector.

The conference, organised by Institute for International Management and Technology, Gurgaon, is focussing on a wide range of issues such as healthcare, education, telecommunications, tourism, finance and insurance. Currently, service sector contributes 40 per cent of the total gross domestic product of the country and employs a workforce of 20 million.
