Back `Consumers lack awareness' Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: Shops and business establishments that state that goods once sold cannot be taken back or exchanged are resorting to unfair trade practices, Mr Justice (Retd) I. Venkatanarayana, President of AP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, has said. Addressing members of Federation of AP Chambers of Commerce and Industry here on Monday, he said consumers lacked awareness of their rights. The meeting was organised to mark the World Consumer Rights Day. Businesses had no right to force consumers to use products they did not want to use. Printing a warning that products once sold would not be exchanged would not make it legal, he said.
