Back AP to recruit 1,000 doctors

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government will be recruiting 1,000 doctors and 1,200 nurses on a priority basis to ensure the availability of medical and para-medical personnel in remote and tribal areas, the State Finance Minister, Mr. K. Rosaiah, told the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Replying to a discussion on the existing facilities in Government general hospitals, the Minister said that he would also call a meeting of political parties to discuss ways to improve medical care, including the regulation of private hospitals' activities in the State. Earlier, the members pointed out that there were not enough staff and equipment in Government hospitals.
