Back Industrial clinics to revive SSIs

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government proposes to set up industrial clinics to revive sick small- scale industries, the State Minister for Major Industries, Mr B. Satyanarayana, told the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Replying to a question raised by Mr Ch. Ramakrishna Reddy during the question hour, the Minister, however, said that a survey conducted by different State organisations had revealed that only 278 out of the 2,378 sick units surveyed could be revived.

The reasons for the sickness, the survey had pointed out, were lack of demand, shortage of working capital, non-availability of raw material, power shortage, labour , marketing , equipment and management problems.
