MANUGISTICS Group Inc has announced the establishment of its India development centre in the Vanenberg IT Park here, which would also be its product development-cum-global support centre.

The company, to operate through its Indian subsidiary, plans to induct 200 people and increase it to 300 by early next year.

The Chief Technology Officer of Manugistics, a Nasdaq-listed supply chain and revenue management solutions provider, Mr Jeffery L. Kissling, said, "The IDC will be responsible for the development of software products and solutions supporting customer goods, retail, Government, travel and transportation companies."

The Managing Director of Manugistics India, Mr Salil Joshi, said that the company planned to transfer ownership from the US to India. While the company now operates from Vanenberg IT Park, it expects to move to a larger facility later this year. Earlier, the company was operating in India through a strategic partner based out of Bangalore.

Declining to comment on the total investments in the IDC stating that the company was in a quiet period, Mr Joshi said, "With the transfer of ownership, Manugistics India will deliver innovative products, services and support for new solutions.
