Building norms: Government to be tough with violators

By Our Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD, MARCH 28. The Municipal Administration Minister, Koneru Ranga Rao, has warned that stern action would be initiated against those who violate the Government rules in construction of multi-storied buildings in Hyderabad.

Replying to a question by G. Kishan Reddy (BJP) in the Assembly on Monday, he said the Government would not spare those who violate the building construction rules.

So far complaints about 26 multi-storied buildings had been received, the Minister said. When asked by the BJP member about construction of Government buildings, including the Paryatak Bhavan, without MCH permission, the Minister said action would be initiated immediately.

Shopping malls

Mr. Kishan Reddy alleged that a new multi-storied shopping complex had come up at Punjagutta cross roads which did not adhere to the MCH rules.

The BJP leader decried the manner in which shopping malls and huge shopping complexes were coming up in the twin cities. Replying to another question by Malreddy Ranga Reddy (Congress), the Minister said that the proposed flyover near Nalgonda crossroads was scientifically approved.

The Minister allayed the fears of the Congress member that the flyover would create further traffic snarls on the busy Hyderabad-Vijayawada national highway and the Hyderabad-Nagarjunasagar State highway.
