State mini championship from tomorrow

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, MARCH 31. The 32nd State mini basketball championship will be held at the De Paul HSS courts, Thodpuzha, under the auspices of the De Paul Sports Foundation, from April 2 to 6.

Releasing the fixtures of the five-day league-cum knockout event, the KBA secretary, P.J. Sunny, said 13 teams would take part in the boys' section and nine in the girls' section.

The top two teams from each group will qualify from the preliminary league for the quarterfinals to be held on April 4. The semifinals will be held on April 5 and the finals on April 6.

Kottayam is the reigning champion in both the sections.

The groupings: Boys: Pool A: Kottayam, Kasaragod, Palakkad. Pool B: Kannur, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta. Pool C: Malappuram, Thiruvananthapuram, Wayanad. Pool D: Thrissur, Alappuzha, Kozhikode, Idukki.

Girls: Pool A: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Pathanamthitta. Pool B: Kannur, Thrissur, Malappuram. Pool C: Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Alappuzha.
