Back AP signs pact on emergency services

HYDERABAD: A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Andhra Pradesh Government and the governing body of Emergency Management and Response Institute (EMRI) to help people access emergency services with a phone call.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, and the Satyam Computer Chairman, Mr B. Ramalinga Raju. This move seeks to provide timely response in all kinds of emergencies that threaten lives and property of citizens, according to a release from the Chief Minister's Office.

EMRI, a non-profit society, was registered here to provide support systems for emergencies in Andhra Pradesh.

It will offer services from August 15 in five major cities, including 10 municipalities. In phase two, these services will be extended to 10 more cities and within three years to the whole State.
