Back Rubber declines on sales

SPOT rubber rates declined on Tuesday. Widespread rains succeeded in inducing a selling mood in the market while slight increase in arrivals was also reported from the marketing centres. Buyers were keeping a low profile since favourable turn in climatic conditions is expected to enhance the selling from growers in the days ahead. RSS 4 closed at Rs 58.00 a kg at Kottayam and Kochi against Rs 58.50 on Monday.

The futures market was quoted almost steady with a decline in trading volumes. The April contract was quoted at Rs 58.39 (58.23), May contract at Rs 60.73 (60.72), June at Rs 62.35 (62.27) and July contract at Rs 63.04 (62.88) per kg for RSS 4.

At Bangkok RSS 3 slid to Rs 58.13 from Rs 58.35 a kg. The May futures for RSS 3 improved to 147.3 yen from 145.8 yen at TOCOM.

The physical rubber rates per kg were as follows: RSS-4: 58.00 (58.50) RSS-5: 57.00 (57.50) ungraded: 56.00 (56.50) ISNR 20: 56.75 (57.25) and latex 60%: 40.50 (41.00)
