THE Chief Minister, Dr Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has appealed to industrialists from Gujarat to invest in the State. "It is estimated that the Krishna-Godavari basin would yield 100 million standard cubic metres a day by 2007-08," the Chief Minister said at his meeting with industrialists in Surat on Thursday.

Showcasing Andhra Pradesh, Dr Reddy said the State had recently announced a new industrial policy for 2005-10 to attract more investments.

"We have announced several concessions for industrialists setting up units in the State," he said. Referring to the State's long coastline, he said there is good potential for developing ports. According to a Government press release, some of the industrialists are keen on investing in Visakhapatnam and Kakinada.

Representatives from Essar Steel, Reliance, Gujarat Petronet Ltd and Surat Shipbreaking Unit were present during the meeting.
