"Telangana decision in Sonia's hands" KCR meets APCC chief in New Delhi

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, APRIL 7. The Union Minister and Telangana Rashtra Samiti Chief, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, today met the Andhra Pradesh State Congress Chief, K. Kesava Rao, here.

The meeting assumes significance in the backdrop of the efforts by the State Congress leadership to scale down the anti-TRS rhetoric and verbal duel between the two parties over the issue.

On his part, Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao told correspondents that as far as separate Telangana issue was concerned, the matter was under consideration and the Pranab Mukherjee sub-committee, which was looking into the demand, was expected to meet in due course.

"Mr. Mukherjee told me last week that he would draw a schedule for the committee to meet and submit a report at the earliest,'' Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao said adding that the TRS had left the issue of separate Telangana to the United Progressive Alliance chairperson, Sonia Gandhi. "It (the issue) is in the safe hands of Ms. Sonia Gandhi who is a good person and with her support we will get it.''

Mr. Kesava Rao echoed similar sentiments. He said the issue was left to Ms. Sonia Gandhi and that she would respect the people's view and the issue.
