VIPs' visit: security tightened in city

By Our Special Correspondent

BANGALORE, APRIL 9. The city police have a busy weekend providing VIP security. The Chinese Prime Minister, Wen Jiabao, arrived here on Saturday evening closely followed by the Telugu actor, Chiranjeevi.

While the Chinese Premier and most of his 100-strong delegation are staying at Windsor Sheraton, the place where Mr. Chiranjeevi and his entourage are staying is kept confidential in an apparent move to keep his fans here at bay.

Sunday morning, Bollywood's stars, including Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and Malaika Arora, will be in the city to regale their fans at the dance and music event, `Temptation 2005,' at the Chinnaswamy stadium.

The place is already teeming with security personnel and people looking after the stage lighting and acoustics.

The Telugu film world is in Bangalore to participate in the `Ugadi Utsav' organised by the Karnataka-Andhra Lalithkala Academy on Sunday evening at the Palace Grounds.

The actor-turned-MP, Ambarish, his wife Sumalatha, and Parvathamma Rajkumar will represent the Kannada film world.

The contingent from Hyderabad will include Telugu stars Srikanth, Tarun, Sriya, Sangeetha and Ankita.

The Chinese Premier is scheduled to visit the Tata Consultancy Services and Infosys Technologies and later address the faculty and students at the Indian Institute of Science.
