Ram temple issue

Sir, — The BJP, in its recently-concluded silver jubilee session, made a total commitment to the Ram temple. It is back to playing its mandir card after failing on all fronts. The middle class is no longer with it. There is, by and large, social harmony in the country. The BJP wants to spoil it for political gains. With millions hungry, illiterate and backward, do Indians need a temple?

R. Suresh Babu,
Chennai

Sir, — The BJP led the alliance that was in power for six years. But it could not construct a Ram temple in Ayodhya. Now when it is out of power, it reiterates its total commitment to the cause. A great sense of commitment indeed.
