Fair deal for weaker sections in APCC likely

HYDERABAD: Weaker sections and minorities are expected to find a fair share in the exercise to reconstitute the Pradesh Congress Committee executive.

The APCC president, K. Keshava Rao, who is expected to name the executive shortly is learnt to have favoured 60 per cent representation for weaker sections and minorities. The new look APCC body will not exceed 21 executive members, six general secretaries, three vice-presidents and a treasurer. The APCC president was firm on giving one-third representation to women in the new body, according to sources.

Dr. Keshava Rao is learnt to have exuded confidence that the elections to 27 District Congress Committees and town units scheduled for April 29 will be unanimous. Barring six DCCs where minor differences existed, a majority of district units have already selected the new chiefs. He has reportedly told party leaders that legislators, Members of the Parliament, chiefs of corporations will not be made DCC chiefs.
