Grievance cells for women employees urged

Move would also help women working in unorganised sector Supreme Court directive yet to be implemented: AITUC

ANANTAPUR: The State vice-president of All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), B.V. Vijayalaxmi, has urged the State Government to set up grievance cells for the redressal of problems of women employees.

Talking to newspersons here on Sunday she mentioned that the Supreme Court had already directed the State and Central Governments to set up grievance cells for women employees, but they were yet to respond to the court direction.

Such cells would also help women working in the unorganised sector fight their problems.

House sites

The Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, had recently agreed to allot house sites, sanction houses and issue ration cards to anganwadi workers and helpers, she said.

She wanted the Government to recognise anganwadi workers and helpers as Government employees.

On paltry wages being paid to anganwadi workers, Ms. Vijayalaxmi asked the State Government to hike the present remuneration of Rs. 200 to Rs. 1,000 per month so that the workers could get monthly wages of Rs. 2,000 including Rs. 1,000 given by the Centre.

The present Government too was toeing the same line and implementing economic reforms, which were anti-people.
