Back Gigabyte in joint venture with D-Link to sell products

Mumbai , April 20

GIGABYTE Technology Co Ltd of Taiwan has drawn up major plans for India. The billion-dollar computer hardware company, through its joint venture with D-Link India Ltd, will launch laptops, LCD monitors and an entire range of computer peripherals.

The company has already launched its motherboards, graphic cards and optical disk drives in India.

"We aim to capture a significant market share in the new products categories in the next three years. The Indian market is growing at a tremendous pace and we see it as a major focus for Gigabyte," Mr Mitchell Liu, Vice-Chairman, told newspersons here on Wednesday.

D-Link, which holds a majority stake in the joint venture company, Gigabyte Technology India Ltd, will continue to manufacture the Gigabyte motherboards.

"The Indian market for notebooks alone is expected to grow at over 100 per cent year-on-year for the next three years," said Mr K.R. Naik, Managing Director of D-Link.

Headquartered in Taipei, Gigabyte has two manufacturing facilities.

D-Link, which has major interests in networking and communications, has business units in 26 countries.
