CHENNAI: The Chennai centre of Tata Elxsi will focus on research and development in wireless networking technology, according to Jayen Gourishankar, Head, Design and Development Centre, Chennai. The centre was inaugurated here on Wednesday by Vivek Harinarain, Secretary, Information Technology, Government of Tamil Nadu. Addressing presspersons, Mr. Gourishankar said a lot of convergence was taking place in the wireless networking technology space. The Chennai centre would work on providing a common solution for multiple wireless communication instruments. Mr. Gourishankar said Tata Elxsi had zeroed in on Chennai to take advantage of the talent pool and good infrastructure. The company was looking at recruiting 100-odd people initially. The number could be scaled up to 500 over a period, he added.
