Woman official held while taking bribe from widow

ERODE: The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police arrested a woman Village Administrative Officer (VAO) for receiving a bribe from a widow.

According to the police one Arukkani of Perundurai, a widow, approached the Perundurai VAO, Indirani, for a legal heir certificate to obtain the widow pension.

Ms. Indirani reportedly demanded Rs. 200 as bribe from the widow, who informed the matter to the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption police.

The police laid a trap and last evening when Ms. Indirani was receiving the bribe in her office at Perundurai, the police arrested her.

The Perundurai taluk office was made an `All Women Taluk Office' two years back and all the officials including servants and driver here are women.
