Vice-president locks panchayat chief's room

ERODE: The vice-president and seven other members of the Bhoodapady panchayat locked the panchayat president's room and meeting hall on Wednesday in protest against not sanctioning funds for development works. The panchayat president, Arivanandham (DMK), was reportedly having differences of opinion with the vice-president, Kumar (Congress), and seven other members, for the last several months over the sanctioning of funds for developmental works.

The panchayat officials rushed to the spot and asked them to open the room and the meeting hall, which they did. Later, police pickets were posted in the area.
