BMTC passes to cost more

BANGALORE: City and suburban bus passes issued by the Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will cost more from May 1.

For the first time an information technology cess of Rs. 10 a month will be charged on all types of bus passes to meet the cost incurred on technology for the BMTC's Global Positioning and Geographical Information System, LED display signs indicating bus arrival timings at bus stops and the interactive voice response system (IVRS) providing information to commuters.

City bus pass, which costs Rs. 280 each a month, will cost Rs. 310, an increase of Rs. 30, including the IT cess of Rs 10. City/suburban pass will cost Rs. 445 and the pass for city/suburban and Pushpak services will cost Rs. 470. These passes now cost Rs. 405 and Rs. 440 each.
