Janashakti naxal killed in encounter

GUNTURNIZAMABAD: A Janashakti naxalite was killed in an encounter with special party police in the early hours of Friday in Dachepalli mandal of Guntur district.

Koppala Srinivasa Rao was on his way from Pedagarlapadu to Chinnagarlapadu in Dachepalli mandal at around 4.30 a.m. when he ran into the police. On being asked to stop, he opened fire and the police retaliated, killing him on the spot.

A native of Vemavaram village in Machavaram mandal of the district, Srinivasa Rao had joined the Naguleti dalam three months ago. According to the police, a 9 mm pistol and a kit bag were recovered from the scene. The Naguleti dalam area secretary, Naganna, in a statement alleged that Srinivasa Rao was dragged out of his house and shot dead.

GUNTURNIZAMABAD: Maoists late on Thursday night killed Mukku Dasaratham (35) of Easaipet in Machareddy mandal, a twice surrendered militant, branding him a police informer.

In recent times, he was said to have tried establishing contacts with top Maoists. He tried to gain the confidence of Janashakti naxalites who too reportedly did not trust him.
