Staff Correspondent

MANGALORE: The Sri Veerabhadra Mahamayee Temple at Veerabhadra Nagar, Boloor, is getting ready for a series of religious and cultural functions in connection with the "Punarpratishte and Brahmakalashotsava" festivities from Thursday.

The temple, which is 800 years old, has been renovated at a cost of Rs. 12 lakhs, according to B.N. Ramachandra, president of the temple.

Mr. Ramachandra told presspersons here on Saturday that previously, the Punarpratishte and Brahmakalashotsava were held in 1971 and 1988.

A separate committee headed by M. Raghunath Shet has been set up to oversee the preparations in connections with festivities.

A speciality of the temple is that the idols of Sri Durgaparameshwari and Sri Veerabhadra have been set up on a single "panipeeta." "Trikala" prayers are offered to the deities every day.
