Fashion shows come out of the ramps in star hotels into the corridors of shopping malls. What better way to display the season's offering to the target audience! Exactly the concept that Hyderabad Central hit upon for its event En Vogue' 05 last weekend, showcasing the Spring Summer 2005 line up from the national and international designers retailing with the chain. Inspired by smart casuals from the 80s, the Pepe Jeans collection for girls featured cargos and denim capris in whites and pinks teamed with tops in ditto hues, with some cool tees for guys. And for the boardroom, Indigo Nation offered contra formals— fine striped high collared, large cuff shirts in white and sky blue with mother of pearl buttons for the young executive in town. Ethnic wear came from Aakriti. The men's wear featured kurtas in deep blue and black with self-detailing embellished with swarowskis, teamed with stoles. Skirts, the flavour of the season, ruled in the Aakriti girls' collection, in their crushed and tie and dye avatars. Accessories— belts, bags and belts were sourced from the labels available in the mall.

There was a line for the most sought after shopper today. Enter the kids' segment. Junior `models' did a Las Ketchup's Asereje in little ponchos, capris and tees. Much like the trend of fashion conscious buying, the concept of shopping is taking up new dimensions.

"Today shopping is all about entertainment. It's about fun. We would like to do more such events. Next would be in August-September, for the festive season," says Rajesh Seth, senior manager, marketing, Central. For now, drop in at mall to check out some trendy clothes for the summer wardrobe.
