Back Red Hat unveils Tamil Linux

RED Hat India, provider of open source software solutions to the enterprise, has launched Red Hat Enterprise Linux v.4 in Tamil.

The latest release includes productivity applications such as office suite with a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, a Web browser and email client, said Mr Javed Tapia, Director, Red Hat India. It plans to localise Red Hat Enterprise Linux to 13 Indian languages this year. The product supporting local languages will be a major development in bridging the digital divide in the country and provide a cost-effective alternative to proprietary platforms, Mr Tapia told newspersons.
