Police party, Maoists exchange fire

ANANTAPUR: A combing party of the police and Maoists exchanged fire on Tuesday between Amagondapalyam and Ragepalli villages of Bukkapatnam mandal in the district. However, there were no casualties on either side.

The Superintendent of Police, R.S. Praveen Kumar, said that a 15-member combing party, which was searching for the killers of the Congress activist, N. Sainath Reddy, who was killed at Narsimpalli village in the mandal earlier this month, was fired upon by Maoists.

The Maoists also fired a crude rocket on the police but it did not explode.

Ongole Special Correspondent writes: The police exchanged fire with CPI (Maoist) activists at Ganjivaripalle in Dornala mandal on Tuesday morning. The Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Chandra Laddha, confirmed the exchange of fire and said that there were no casualties.
