Back Gillette India profit dips

NEW DELHI: Gillette India posted about 7 per cent increase in net sales at Rs 107.55 crore for the first quarter ended March 31, 2005 even as its net profit dipped by over 14 per cent to Rs 16.87 crore.

The company increased its marketing spend from Rs 7.17 crore in the March 2004 quarter to Rs 12.87 crore this time, it said in a statement here.

The Managing Director, Mr Zubair Ahmed, said that the company's domestic grooming business grew 11 per cent, oral care posted 44 per cent value growth while personal care volume growth was pegged at 62 per cent.
