Back Bharat Electronics net up 44 per cent

BANGALORE: Defence public sector company Bharat Electronics Ltd has posted 44.6 per cent growth in its net profit for the last quarter of fiscal 2004-05. It has reported a net profit of Rs 178.2 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2005 compared with Rs 123.18 crore for the same quarter of 2003-04.

Total income for the quarter has increased 4.3 per cent to Rs 1,161.49 crore (Rs 1,113.86 crore), according to unaudited quarterly and annual results.

For the 12 months, BEL improved its net profit to Rs 429.2 crore - up 35.7 per cent from Rs 316.1 crore the previous fiscal.

Total income increased to Rs 3,326.7 crore (Rs 2,890.58 crore). Consolidated annual net profit for the group rose 32.9 per cent to Rs 438.94 crore (Rs 330.22 crore).

Total consolidated income has increased in Rs 3,480.76 crore (Rs 3030.58 crore).

The consolidated unaudited annual results include numbers for the subsidiary company, BEL Optronic Devices Ltd (with 92.79 per cent shareholding); and joint venture companies GE BE Pvt Ltd (26 per cent shareholding) and BEL Multitone Ltd (49 per cent shareholding).
