LG Electronics India has selected Oracle E-Business Suite to drive its enterprise resource planning (ERP) and marketing activities, in a project estimated at $5 million.

The Oracle applications implementation would help LG India integrate seamlessly with the parent company and other LG businesses worldwide. The implementation of the project is expected to be completed by July.

"With the growth of our Indian operations, we felt an increasing need to enhance the response time of our ERP, as well as improve the scalability and security and flexibility of the existing IT systems. The suite which replaces our home-grown ERP package, is expected to offer savings to the tune of $3 million every year, by bringing enhanced efficiency," Mr Arindam Bose, Head of Department, IT Systems, LGEIL, said at a conference here.

LGEIL would use Oracle applications in the areas of financials, purchasing, manufacturing, sales and inventory management. "Human resources will also be included in this later," he added.

Mr Krishan Dhawan, Managing Director - Oracle India said, "The Oracle Information Architecture includes the Oracle E-Business Suite, along with the underlying database and application server technologies. This integrated architecture effectively provides business managers with real time information."

Oracle India has 250 applications customers in India, across industries such as telecom, banking, insurance, manufacturing and utilities in Government and private sectors.
