Back V.V.R. Sastry is BEL Director

BANGALORE: Mr V.V.R. Sastry is the new Director (Commercial & Management Services) of Bharat Electronics Ltd.

He takes over from Mr S.C. Khanna, who retired on April 30 on superannuation.

A Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Communication, Mr Sastry joined Bharat Electronics in 1969 as Assistant Engineer. During his 36-year stint, he has worked in areas such as development and engineering, production engineering, project management, technology management, commercial management and marketing.

He was General Manager of the Military Communication & Electronic Warfare Strategic Business Unit in the Bangalore complex of BEL till he became Director in 2002. Widely travelled, he headed BEL's New York office for three years.

Mr Sastry is a senior assessor for the CII-EXIM Bank business excellence model.
