APCLC terms encounter in city fake

HYDERABAD: The twin cities unit of the Andhra Pradesh Civil Liberties Committee (APCLC), which looked into the encounter of naxalites -- Yadanna and Sammakka -- in a house here on April 27, concluded on Monday that it was fake as the room was too small for an exchange of fire.

K.V.K. Subrahmanyam, president of the committee and also a member of the fact-finding team, demanded a judicial inquiry into the killing of the couple and arrest of the police responsible for it.

In a statement here, the APCLC demanded ending of police encounters as they amount to violation of the right to life.
