Schools to be upgraded in Belgaum

BELGAUM: The Government has identified two schools in the district to be developed into Kuvempu centenary model schools.

A press release issued here on Wednesday quoted the Minister for Agricultural Marketing and district in charge, Prakash B. Hukkeri, as saying that the government higher primary schools in Sadalga and Nesargi in Chikkodi and Bailhongal taluks, respectively, will be developed into model schools this year.

Meanwhile, the Government has sanctioned Rs. 51 lakhs to construct a commercial complex in front of the bus stand in Sadalga and Rs. 50 lakhs for drainage works in the town.

Administrative approval has been obtained for the 110/33-kV substation of KPTCL at Bhoj village in Chikkodi taluk. Work on the unit will begin once the Government releases funds, the release said.

The Government has accorded administrative approval for a Rs. 30-lakh scheme to develop a cattle market at Nesargi.

It has also given permission to seek Rs. 20 lakhs from the Byadgi Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) to take up development works. Also, approval has been accorded to seek Rs. 20 lakhs from the Saundatti APMC to take up development works at the APMC yard.
