NEW DELHI: A high level delegation of Nokia on Wednesday called on the Union Communications and IT Minister, Dayanidhi Maran, here to discuss the details of implementing the company's project of setting up its first ever manufacturing unit at Sriperumbudur near Chennai. The Nokia President, Pekka Ala-Pietilä, also called on the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh. During the meeting, Nokia officials indicated that their plant might go on stream early next year. The delegation thanked Mr. Maran for his initial invitation to invest in India and his subsequent assistance in establishing the manufacturing unit. Mr. Maran requested the delegation to explore the possibilities of further investment to which they agreed.
