One killed, two hurt in car-truck collision

ALAPPUZHA: One person was killed and two were injured when a container truck belonging to a parcel company collided with an Ambassador car on NH-47 at Kalithattu Junction in Mararikkulam around 4 a.m. on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Stanley, 24, of Pookoot house, Chavakkad, Thrissur. Mr. Stanley was driving the car. The injured are Udayaraj, 24, and Sanoj, 21, natives of Vaipin, Ernakulam.

The car was going from Kollam to Ernakulam and the truck proceeding to Thiruvanamthapuram from Karnataka. The truck's diesel tank exploded, sparking off a fire. The Mararikkulam police have taken into custody Rajasekhar, 26, the truck driver.
