Cooperative societies poll likely in July

VIJAYAWADA: After a long gap, the State Government is finally gearing up to hold elections to cooperative societies by July this year. Efforts like restructuring of cooperative societies have already begun and arrangements are being made to ensure that only genuine farmers participated in the election process.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, the Minister for Cooperation, Kanna Laxminarayana, lamented that persons not associated with the farming sector dominated the proceedings so far. But the recent amendments made to the Acts ensured that only farmers were made voters in the election.
