CPI leader suggests shifting of Meena

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: The former legislator and CPI national council member, K. Ramakrishna, has demanded an inquiry by a sitting judge of the High Court into the Penukonda violence.

Talking to newsmen on Sunday, Mr. Ramakrishna also sought payment of ex gratia to the next of kin of all those killed in the violence.

He suggested that the Government shift the Rayalaseema Zone IGP, R.P. Meena, as he had been facing serious allegations over his role in the deterioration of the law and order in the district. In this backdrop, the responsibility of the Government had increased vis-à-vis the conduct of by-election, the CPI leader said. On the candidature of P. Sunita, Mr. Ramakrishna said that his party had written to both the Congress and the TDP not to field candidates having such a background.
