Case filed for fraudulently securing ration card

HYDERABAD: The Ranga Reddy district revenue authorities booked a case against a house owner, Mandala Nandam, on charge of securing white ration card through fraudulent means.

A resident of Kapra Municipality, Nandam falsely stated that he was below poverty line, had an annual income of Rs. 15,000 and a small house in 200 sq. yards of plot, a press release said.

Investigation

But, verifications by a special team revealed that the cardholder had a big building in 475 sq. yards of land with eight rooms.

He was getting Rs. 4,000 monthly income by letting out each room for Rs. 500 per month.

Based on the findings, a case was registered under Section 9 of the Essential Commodities Act, 1985.

The authorities warned people against adopting such practices and said that stringent action would be initiated against those who violated norms.
