Back Metaljunction hints at importing coking coal

FOLLOWING the launch of Coaljunction, the focus of Metaljunction Services Ltd now is on importing coking coal.

Talking to Business Line, the Metaljunction Managing Director, Mr V. Oberoi, said the steel industry largely depends on imports to meet its requirement of coking coal.

"It is an opportunity which we have to study in detail before launching the services," he said hinting that the company may take a few months before importing coal for the steel sector.

"We have started doing the groundwork for e-auction for coal since February. We would like to get into imports also but it is difficult to set any time frame for the same."

Asked if the company would enter into any equity participation with Coal India for the Coaljunction services, he said that it was too early to comment on such possibilities.
