Back GE Shipping, Mercator take delivery of vessels Our Bureau
Mumbai, May 19 GREAT Eastern Shipping (GE Shipping) and Mercator Lines have taken delivery of vessels, adding significantly to their fleet size. GE Shipping took delivery of a newly built Suezmax Ice class crude carrier from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries. The 1.58 lakh DWT (dead weight tonne) tanker, named Jag Lalit, was contracted by the company in May 2003. Equipped with the capability to trade in ice-bound regions, the tanker has pushed up the company's fleet size to 75 vessels, comprising 44 ships aggregating 3.22 million DWT and 31 offshore assets. GE Shipping's new-building order book now consists of 12 vessels, including five tankers. Mercator Lines Ltd has informed the BSE that the company has taken delivery of one second-hand Aframax Tanker of 1,09,610 DWT. With this, the tonnage capacity of the company has increased to 12.13 lakh DWT.
