Back AP farmers to run lift irrigation schemes Our Bureau
Hyderabad , May 19 THE Andhra Pradesh Government has decided that farmers should maintain all lift irrigation schemes under the Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) left and right canals, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy has said on Thursday. The implementation would be on the same lines as being done with respect to lift irrigation schemes implemented by the Andhra Pradesh State Irrigation Development Corporation (APSIDC). The Chief Engineer, NSP and the Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation should repair all the schemes and hand them over to the APSIDC, who would then hand them over to the farmers, the beneficiaries for further maintenance. The APSIDC would impart necessary training to the farmers, including the use of power saving devices. The operation and maintenance cost would be borne by the farmers.
