Back NCDEX sets record in physical deliveries Our Bureau
Mumbai , May 23 THE National Commodities and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) has set a record in physical deliveries of major commodities for May contracts. The deliveries touched 44,909 tonnes against 28,301 tonnes in April. Major commodities in which deliveries took place were sugar (23,560 tonnes), urad (12,260 tonnes), guar seed (2,900 tonnes) and (2,560 tonnes), jeera (1,407 tonnes), soyabean meal (1,370 tonnes), pepper (368 tonnes) and soyabean (230 tonnes). Total volume of physical deliveries as a percentage of open interest for jeera rose steeply in May contracts to 98.12 per cent (1,434 tonnes). Deliveries to open interest for urad rose to 95.19 per cent (12,880 tonnes). Similarly for guar seed, deliveries to open interest rose to 84.8 per cent (3,420 tonnes). Deliveries to open interest continued to remain high for guar gum 91.92 per cent (2,785 tonne), soyabean meal 91.33 per cent (1,500 tonne) and sugar 94.66 per cent (24,890 tonne). For the first time, gold (5 kg), sesame seed (10 tonnes) and coffee - arabica and robusta (120 tonnes) were delivered on the exchange.
