Back ICWAI unveils e-learning module

THE Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) has announced the national launch of its e-learning module here on Wednesday.

The objective is to provide access to thousands of aspiring students in the remote areas of the country.

According the ICWAI President, Dr H.R. Subramanya, the introduction of e-learning was a big leap in teaching and learning. The use of technology opens up a wide gamut of possibilities for interacting and learning, he said.

Dr Subramanya said the e-learning module is nearly 30 per cent cheaper than other two modules — oral and postal.

"In the e-learning module, the institute proposes to provide all its registered students with quality study material at a click of the mouse at a nominal cost. The students would also be provided access to plethora of online facilities such as online assessments, interacting with their peers, teachers, professionals through a scheduled chat sessions," he said.

According to the ICWAI Chennai Region Chairman, Mr A.S. Durga Prasad, through e-learning module, students will have access to the faculty to clarify their doubts and also understand critical aspects of the subjects.

The institute proposes to conduct eligibility tests as well through the e-learning portal, he said. Of around 1,50,000 students currently enrolled with ICWAI, over 3,000 were expected to shift over to the e-learning module in the next three to six months, he said.
