Offering a `starry' career


Thirty-five students of Sir Isaac Newton Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology in Nagapattinam were thrilled when they got placements in six leading star hotels in different cities across the country such as Ahmedabad, Mysore, Kochi, Darjeeling, Mahabalipuram and in Chennai immediately after completing their courses.

D. Maheswaran and D. Anand, principal and secretary respectively of the institute, run by Dhandapani Educational and Charitable Trust, said that a tie up with the volunteer ministries in England, helped students to get placements in leading hotels.

Mr. Maheswaran, principal, said that the volunteer ministries from England gave periodical motivational training and leadership lectures to the students. He pointed out that 60 students of the institute were being provided training in 10 star hotels in various parts of the country as part of the three-year diploma course in hotel management and catering technology.

Mr Anand, secretary, said that the institute was conducting one-year and three-year diploma courses and pointed out that special training in spoken English, Hindi and French languages to the students.
